Most site visitors may also know me as "pokemypocky" (or "PMP", for short) on a lot of different websites. As you might imagine, a lot of people have asked me, "Where in the world did you come up with a name like that?"

Well, here is the story behind the name...

For those of you who don't know, Pocky is a Japanese snack that comes in flavors like chocolate or strawberry. Back when I had never heard of Pocky before and I first read the word, I foolishly thought that it was pronounced like the word "poke" with the long "O" sound--"Pokey". However, my friends corrected me on the pronounciation of the word, and it soon became an inside joke for us.

Some time later when I went to start my accounts on sites like deviantART and fanfiction, I was having a little touble doing so because when you start an account with a website, you have to have your own online screen name, and no two can be the same. I found that all of the really good sounding names were taken, and no matter how many different combinations of words, letters, or numbers I tried, I still couldn't start my accounts because someone else had already beaten me to the punch when it came to a name. I was so frustrated that I was almost ready to give up on it completely.

Then, one of my friends whom I had told about my frustrating problem--and who was also included in our inside joke--called me up and said, "I've got it! It just popped into my head: 'pokemypocky'!"

And so, pokemypocky was born. I admit that I had hoped my online name would be a little more glamerous, but it grew on me after a while, and in the end I'm happy with it.
